Saint Andrew School
Social Studies & Religion - Mrs. Lisa Downey - 8th Grade Homeroom

I am Lisa Downey, I have lived in Carbondale since 1999.  I am originally from Ohio.  I earned my BA from Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio including certifications in Elementary Education grades K-9, Special Education Learning Disabilities and Behavior Disorders grades K-12, as well as a certification in Secondary Biology grades 9-12.  While earning my Bachelor’s degree I also played varsity basketball all four years.  After undergraduate I completed my Master’s Degree at the University of Arizona in Tucson.  My MA is in Educational Psychology.   For over 18 years I have been associated with Saint Andrew School.  My three Sons, Garrett 24, Harrison 21 and Weston 17 all attended Saint Andrew.  I have volunteered in a variety of ways at Saint Andrew over the years most recently as the Tutor for 7 years.  I moved to the 7th grade classroom beginning in the fall of 2016 and have absolutely loved it!  I am very excited to be able to apply my skills to a larger population of students and look forward to the years ahead.

Update: I am now the homeroom teacher for grade 8 and will still teach religion and social studies to 6/7/8 grades.
