Saint Andrew School
Second Grade
Hello, my name is Erika Naas and I am very excited about being a second grade teacher!
This is my second year teaching second grade, at Saint Andrew School. I graduated from
SIU-C in May of 2011 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Secondary
endorsements in language arts and social sciences. Upon graduating I earned an
Illinois Teaching Certification. After graduating I have worked as a substitute teacher and
an RTI Interventionist. I do have a great deal of experience working closely with second
grade students. My previous resource and elementary experiences have been rewarding
and I enjoy collaborating with my fellow teachers, parents, and students to create the best
possible learning environment. Education is very important to me and it is my goal to inspire
the children to learn in an environment that explores the diverse learning styles of all students.
I want students to gain confidence in themselves and feel encouraged to learn through hands
on experiences, as well as, regular seat work. I intend to create small group activities and
workshops that allow me to work closely with each student, so I can better identify individual
needs. This will help me create diverse lesson plans that will enrich their educations.  I currently
reside in Sparta, Illinois with my husband John, our two children, two dogs, two cats, a bearded
dragon, and a hedgehog. Yes, we have a zoo! John and I have been married 24 years and have
a 19 year old son and a 23 year old daughter. My favorites things are going to Cardinal games,
reading, and spending time with my family. I am also a runner; and enjoy the fall and winter
race season. You might just see me running around town!
